چکیده

Plasma-assisted deposition is a facile, yet sophisticated method to form biocompatible coatings on materials and introduce specific surface interactions. The plasma process provides unique features such as activation, functionalization, assisted polymerization, all of which can be obtained under low power room temperature conditions. further provide with enhanced adhesion stability. Here, it reported for the first time, controlled versatile biomaterial chitosan range substrates – soda-lime glass, metal alloy (Ti4Al6V), thermoplastic polymer (polyethylene terephthalate), silicone rubber (poly(dimethylsiloxane)). deposited films are characterized by atomic force microscopy, scanning electron microscopy Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, evaluated proposed also successfully optimized multiple layers different biomaterials. Specifically, comprising alternate silk fibroin realized, together patterned surfaces programmable composition. biological response chitosan-on-fibroin fibroin-on-chitosan without patterning investigated using cell culture experiments. Selective area enables development improved finishes biomedical devices.

Direct Patterning of Functional Materials via Atmospheric-Pressure Ion Deposition

Interest in thin films of functional materials has increased enormously in recent years because of the wide range of possible applications. Here we report an experimental setup we have termed Atmospheric-Pressure Ion Deposition (APID) as a novel technique that allows highly controllable and soft processing of various materials (e.g. polymers, bio molecules and inorganic materials) into thin and...

Modeling the past atmospheric deposition of mercury using natural archives.

Historical records of mercury (Hg) accumulation in lake sediments and peat bogs are often used to estimate human impacts on the biogeochemical cycling of mercury. On the basis of studies of lake sediments, modern atmospheric mercury deposition rates are estimated to have increased by a factor of 3-5 compared to background values: i.e., from about 3-3.5 microg Hg m(-2) yr(-1) to 10-20 microg Hg ...

Liquid phase deposition of polymers on arbitrary shaped surfaces and their suitability for e-beam patterning.

We present a straightforward low cost liquid phase deposition method to coat arbitrary-shaped dielectric substrates with uniform electron beam sensitive polymer films. Furthermore, we investigate the use of electron beam lithography to pattern the coated pre-form substrates. The polymers studied are poly-methyl-methacrylate with different molecular weights, poly(methyl methacrylate-co-ethyl acr...

Damascene Cu electroplating for on-chip metallization, which we conceived and developed in the early 199Os, has been central to IBM's Cu chip interconnection technology. We review here the challenges of filling trenches and vias with Cu without creating a void or seam, and the discovery that electrodeposition can be engineered to give filling performance significantly better than that achievabl...

Deposition of Antimicrobial Copper-Rich Coatings on Polymers by Atmospheric Pressure Jet Plasmas

Inanimate surfaces serve as a permanent reservoir for infectious microorganisms, which is a growing problem in areas in everyday life. Coating of surfaces with inorganic antimicrobials, such as copper, can contribute to reduce the adherence and growth of microorganisms. The use of a DC operated air plasma jet for the deposition of copper thin films on acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) subst...
